CATHERINE VAN BUSKIRK VAN HOESEN

Catherine Van Buskirk was born November 13, 1770 of Jacob and Gertrude Schram Van Buskirk in old Albany County, NY, now Greene County, near Loonenburg, now Athens, New York.

She married Gerritt Van Hoesen son of Gerritt G and Elizabeth Van Hoesen. He was baptized Sept 30, 1769 at Coxackie New York (near Athens). In 1798 he was promoted to Ensign of light infantry by the council of appointments. He and Catherine farmed all their lives at Preble, New York. In 1815 Gerritt was Justice of the Peace. Strong supporter of government.

Catherine died December 9, 1845 and Garritt died January 28, 1859, both at Preble. They are buried on the old Presbyterian Church site.

Their children:

Gerritt, December 31, 1791 at Katskill New York. Married May 23, 1811 at Tully NY to Lana Van Buskirk, daughter of Benjamin and Maria Hardick Van Buskirk. Died September 30, 1860 at Preble New York.

This concludes this Van Buskirk line within our Van Hoesen line. Just to appreciate the complexity of all these lines, and the close nature of the Dutch settlers on the Hudson, note that this Gerritt is the son of a Van Buskirk and the grandson of two Van Hoesens (kinship unknown). He married Lana Van Buskirk who is the end of the other Van Buskirk line within the family!

Jacob, December 15, 1793. 10 children.

Ketura. Married Benjamin Galusha . One son.

Elizabeth, born September 22, 1796

John, born 1798. Married Mary Park, in Greene County; two children, Ketura and Desire
